ALYS was initially planned to be VoxWave's first VOCALOID and the first French VOCALOID released but on July 12, 2014, it was announced that ALYS would be available for the CeVIO engine and the VOCALOID project was dropped.
On January 13, 2013, the first hint of a possible French VOCALOID was posted on Vocaloid.fr with intentions to announce the project. Anders of VocaTone later confirmed the projects legitimacy on October 16 of the same year.
On July 12, 2014, VoxWave announced ALYS' software jump from VOCALOID3 engine to CeVIO engine.
On December 11, 2015, VoxWave announced ALYS would be released March 10, 2016 on Alter/Ego.
Two UTAU voicebanks, a Japanese and a French, are under development and currently used for the vocal demonstrations of ALYS. It has been confirmed that they will not be released publicly, nor they will be part of the commercial product.
